On behalf of the real estate office in the city of Stockholm, we equipped and refurbished the historic building at Slussen, which is today the Stockholm City Museum. The building was built in 1663 and is a building memorial.
The purpose of the renovation was to create suitable premises for the museum's public activities. Among other things, it included making the building more tillgänglighetsanpassad, improving fire safety and freshening up the building's exterior. At the same time, the cultural historical values that exist in the building should be maintained and developed.
The house was designed by two of Sweden's most important architects, Nicodemus Tessin the Elder and Nicodemus Tessin D. Y, and is also one of the best preserved 1600-century houses in Sweden built for public purposes. Since the 1930 century, the city museum has been engaged in public activities in the property.
The goal of the renovation has been to remove traces from previous renovations such as light walls, suspended ceilings and built-in floor constructions. To open up the inside of the house by removing for buildings for windows and transforming office rooms into public spaces.
The city Museum has been nominated for the ROOT Prize and was inaugurated on 27 April 2019.
